The maize we planted under plastic in March is now over two feet tall in comparison to maize drilled three weeks ago which is about three inches tall.

Maisie, the cow that lost her calf last Friday, is resting in the yard, eating and drinking well, but lacking the strength to stand unaided at the moment. Each day she is lifted up, with the support of straps attached to the Matbro. The vet thinks it could be ten days before she heals enough to get up onto her feet.

On the farm today, Sam and David are cleaning out the grain store at Raikes ready for harvest, a job that is likely to take another five days. Donald and Amanda are checking and feeding cattle and Dick is fixing fences.
