NEGATIVE results to all tests! Fantastic news and such an enormous relief.  Laurence phoned me about 11.40 to say he had heard from Reigate. The temporary zone has been lifted and all the tests are negative. I am absolutely thrilled. We now await the results from local vets on the blood samples they took two days ago, to discover what is wrong with the calves.

The symptons shown in our calves can be associated with different ailments. They were off their food, heads hanging down and with runny noses, but when we found sores or ulcers in their mouths and with our connections to Normandy, we knew that we had to call DEFRA.

Laurence has tried to keep the press informed as far as possible to get the facts out into the media rather than panic or fear. He has just gone up to give his reaction to journalists.Back
