We have had another visit from the Fire Brigade, this time they went directly to the grain drier. David arrived shortly after and found the firemen had swithed the drier off because they thought that would 'make it safe', however the drier had been functioning perfectly well before they switched it off.

We have had a grain drier for a number of years and use it to dry a variety of grains throughout the seasons, so it seems odd that the Fire Service have been called out twice in as many days.

The function of a grain drier is to dy grain and this process naturally creates steam, not smoke. The steam doesn't smell like smoke and nor is it hot, it appears momentarily in the sky and then disappears.
