Wednesday afternoon
I have just heard that animals are being culled on a third site and I feel sick to the stomach.  Pigs are very contageous, so it may be that they have been culled as a precaution because they are close to the other sites.

With regard to site contamination a vet told us that all concrete will be disinfected and that the soil will self clean in a few weeks. It will be at least four weeks before we can go back onto the fields at Normandy, possibly longer.  Although our wheat is now ready for harvesting, we won't be able to cut it until late September by which time it probably won't be fit to sell. This will be a big blow to our business, however I know that our problems are nothing compared to those who have lost their entire herd overnight through no fault of their own.Back
