Christopher completed the Surrey ploughing match season with two matches in one weekend; Ripley and Chertsey. He won the novice class at Chertsey which helped to place him fourth overall this season.

Here’s Christopher with the Chertsey cup and Grandad Ian who carefully painted the red and white ploughing poles!
The poles are an important aid to gaining an all important straight opening. Each band of red and white is12”, so the poles can double up for measuring the plot if needed.
We are grateful to Mick and Janet Hill lending and transporting the tractor and with help from Ted Goldthrup, Laurence and David who drove the Massey Ferguson to the West End and Loseley matches in less than clement weather and the other ploughmen and woman, who provide help and advice to novices; they were once in the same position!
