Apart from an earlier shower, today is set fine for harvesting with sunshine and a breeze. However our ‘new’ (second hand) combine harvester which arrived in May, was leaking fuel yesterday. These things happen with any machine especially when the demands of harvest are stretching man and machine to their limits.

The on-call Claas mechanic spent this morning searching for the problem and he’s now replacing a fuel pipe which appears to have been gnawed by a mouse! Ideally we should have been harvesting a couple of hours ago when we still have hundreds of acres ahead of us.
One of the Claas 850 tractors is being worked on at present and we have been lent a 640 in it's place to cover the corn carting period. Tomorrow two tyres will be replaced and then it will be under way.

A wiring loom burnt out on our existing 640 and that was repaired on Saturday morning.
