Our main aim is to do all we can to eradicate Foot and Mouth Disease from Surrey, so we are ensuring all our cattle are regularly checked and that every effort has been made with our bio security since news broke of FMD in August.
We have tried to be supportive of the work undertaken by the Government and DEFRA even though we have heard first hand experiences of some dreadful senarios over the past month or so. Maybe I will return to this later.
I have just checked the DEFRA website and finally they have updated it, the only problem being that they have some initial blood tests on clinically healthy sheep on a farm within the Protection Zone which suggests some exposure to FMD. There is no comment about the zones changing as yet, I am just hoping it isn't sheep in Ripley because they could belong to a farmer we know.
Okay, so I am not getting much sleep lately and I'm feeling absolutely whacked, but it was fantastic today to find some wonderful comments about my Manor Farm wesite, on a mountain biker's website! I may just go and read it again because I could do with some positive vibes!
