Fortunately Laurence managed to reach the grain drier in the nick of time the other day, it was a slight build up of dust and chaff that was smouldering into a small fire and thankfully it didn’t damage the machine itself.  Later that day there was a small fire in the combine ‘header’ and I was beginning to wonder what more could go wrong.

Wild oats cannot be sprayed off because the actual crop would also be susceptible to a weed killer.  So, the men went rogueing through the last of the oats this morning to remove the wild oat plants by hand before the combine harvester could get to work.

However, as Laurence began combining in Hogs Ham field a large rock was taken up into the combine harvester bending a bar and smashing the chain on the elevator to the drum, so things have stopped for more repairs.
