A tiny wheat germ and shoot

As you may have read, the Rooks are systematically munching their way through our Wheat crop.  See the holes made by the Rooks as they work their way down the drill line; they are not at all stupid.

They eat the germ or take it away to feed their young, leaving discarded shoots in the field

The boys and I have been busy making scare-crows and helping David put together some new spinning bird scarers!

We have made three scare-crows but need many more.  Here are a few photographs to show what we have created!

Edward in Crossways field

George was playing rugby for his school today, but as soon as he came home he made a scarecrow and went straight into the field to give his scare-crow a few lessons on what it should do!!

As George breaks up before his brothers for Easter, he has offered to be a bird scarer for a week.  He seems to have a natural ability for this task as you can see!!
