I met with graphic designers today who are producing an historic information board for the farm and the spin off will be a farm leaflet. I had to produce the photos, information and a basic map and from these, the board design has developed over the summer.
It was our quarterly budgeting meeting with James Miller from 'Laurence Gould' today. It is always good to welcome James up from Somerset, prising him away from his own farm, however it was a fairly depressing meeting, in part because we would hope to have completed the harvesting of wheat and rape by now.
The rain hasn't helped the condition of the crops which remain standing. With 130 acres of wheat still left to cut at Dunsfold and with more rain forecast at lunchtime tomorrow, Laurence has just gone back to the combine. Better to cut it and run through the drier than have it starting to sprout in the fields.
Over at Normandy near Guildford we have lost approximately 30 acres of spring rape to rabbit dammage and 70 acres to pigeon dammage, leaving about 100 acres to harvest if we can get there before the remainder is eaten.
