Unfortunately rain keeps stopping play – Laurence had just 4 acres of wheat left to cut last night to finish a field when it poured with rain yet again.  He only got going again at 4 o’clock today, completing those 4 acres at Coomb Farm before moving north of the railway at Park Farm and working eastward.

The wheat is coming off the field at 24% moisture when it should be less than 15%. Thirty tonne of grain is put through the drier and it takes about two hours to take out 10% moisture and in diesel alone this costs £12-£15 per tonne or a minimum of £360/30 tonne.

After the area around Wotton, we will continue harvesting wheat at Silent Pool, Shalford, Dunsfold and will then return to Wotton to harvest maize.
